The story begins with the creation of the Toss & Chop™. Wendy Silver, a stay-at-home mother of two, was trying to recreate a chopped salad that she had eaten in Manhattan restaurant. "I'm always trying to eat as healthy as possible and chopped salads are so delicious, but they are time consuming to prepare at home," says Wendy, "I thought it would be easier if I could just put all of my ingredients right into the bowl, and mix and chop everything at the same time." She quickly sketched the device that would become the Toss & Chop™. While experimenting with her invention, Wendy discovered that in addition to chopping healthy salad ingredients, such as tomatoes, onions, and all types of lettuces, the Toss & Chop™ also chopped a wide variety of foods with ease. "I was making baby food, chicken salad and pasta sauce, without using my knives or cutting board." Wendy's husband Michael shared her vision for the potential of the Toss & Chop. In 2001, he resigned from his position in finance and operations at a major cosmetics company and they established Silvermark. Together, they worked to refine the Toss & Chop to its current design. "We wanted to create a product that exceeded expectations," says Michael. The world was first introduced to the Toss & Chop in January 2002, when the product was launched on national television. Oprah wanted to get to know its inventor and put the Toss & Chop on her "Olist", NBC's Today Show featured Wendy to inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs, and Donnie Deutsch invited Michael and Wendy to his show, The Big Idea. To date, millions of Toss & Chops have been sold around the world.
